A week and a half into June and I haven’t done my May wrap-up! Seems as good a topic for Sunday Salon as any. It was a slower month for me, with a trip home and the start of summer semester. Here’s what my May looked like:

Miscellaneous and Sundry
- I introduced myself and interviewed Rebecca from kindle fever for Armchair BEA.
- Cass, Emily and I read and watched Angels in America by Tony Kushner.
- Reading Buddies read Animal Farm by George Orwell and Bel Canto by Ann Patchett.
- I added a very informal reading buddies book: Cloud Atlas by David Michell. If you’d like to sort of read it with me, let me know!
- I signed up for the Spring-into-Summer Read-a-thonhosted by Enna Isilee as a way to celebrate turning in my big mid-semester paper!
- I started a Tumblr!
Today, my husband and I are going to try to go strawberry picking! I love pick-your-own fruit, and strawberries always kick off the season. After that, it’s back to the schoolwork for me.
Your Turn!
That was my May. How was yours? What are you up to today?
I’d love to “sort of” read Cloud Atlas with you. This one has been on my list for years now and I even bought a copy for my kindle before starting Peace Corps…I’d like to finally read it, especially since I love the one other Mitchell book I’ve read, Black Swan Green.
A little late replying here, but…I emailed you. I’d love to have you along!
Bummer you didn’t like Bel Canto. I have had it for years–I bought it because everyone was praising it, but I have been uninspired to pick it up so far.
I loved almost all of it, but the ending completely wrecked it for me. Lots of people have loved it, though, so perhaps I’m the minority! Also, I didn’t have that much to choose from this month. If I’d read it during another month, it might not have been my least favorite.
I had a really slow reading month in May as well. For whatever reason, I was just not interested in reading much during the month. However, June has already been a lot better, so I’m excited!
Me neither! I just felt like I needed a breather, I think. My June has been going much better so far, too. Here’s to lots of books in June!
Bel Canto seems to be one of those love/hate books. I really liked it but know so many don’t. Would love to join Cloud Atlas but since I’m averaging a book a month I’m not even going to pull it off the shelf. ๐ Hope you like it, though. I’ve heard great things!
Tumblr. Eventually I’ll be the only one not tumbling (though I did set up a page)
I really liked it until like the last 20 pages! And then all my love for it went right out the window. The end ruined the book for me. Oh well. As for Cloud Atlas, I suppose you have a good excuse ๐
I’m not so good with Twitter; Tumblr is more my speed! So far it seems to be working out, though I’m still not exactly sure how it works…
I heart your tumblr! It is so cute and fun! And there are vegetables! I read the excerpt of The Great Lenore that you put on there and I’m thinking of reading it now…
PS That is a lot of audio book hours.
Thanks! There will be more vegetables. Probably every time I get a share ๐ I really liked The Great Lenore, so I won’t stand in the way of you reading it! There was a month not long ago when I listened to a single 40+ hour audiobook…by comparison, this month looks wussy!
